Dermal Filler
Filler Fears, Myths & Facts

If you've spent any time on social media, you've probably seen filler blamed for just about everything.
"Pillow face."
"Filler migration."
"Once you start, you can never stop."
"It's all fake."
With so much information online, it's understandable that many people come to their consultation feeling nervous. Some have convinced themselves they'll never get filler. Others worry they'll no longer look like themselves.
The truth is, filler isn't the problem.
More often than not, it's how it's used.
Myth #1: Filler always looks obvious.
Good filler shouldn't announce itself.
The goal isn't for someone to notice fuller lips or sharper cheeks. The goal is for someone to notice that you look rested, healthy, or simply like yourself.
When filler is thoughtfully placed in the right patient, with the right product, in the right amount — most people won't know you've had anything done at all.
Myth #2: More filler equals better results.
One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that more product creates a better outcome.
In reality, beautiful results often come from knowing when enough is enough.
Your face isn't a collection of isolated areas that all need to be filled. It's a system of balance, proportion, movement, and support. Sometimes treating one area beautifully means leaving another completely alone.
Myth #3: Filler stretches your skin.
This is a question I hear often.
For the average patient receiving appropriate treatment, filler does not permanently stretch out the skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers are gradually broken down by the body over time. While every face ages naturally, receiving filler responsibly doesn't mean your skin will be worse off if you decide not to continue treatment.
What matters most is thoughtful treatment planning, appropriate product selection, and avoiding overcorrection.
Myth #4: Once you start filler, you're committed forever.
Choosing filler today doesn't commit you to treatment for the rest of your life. Some patients return regularly because they enjoy maintaining their results. Others wait longer between visits. Some decide they don't want more treatment at all.
Myth #5: Filler migration happens to everyone.
The internet has made filler migration seem inevitable. The reality is much more nuanced.
Migration can happen, but it isn't an expected outcome of properly selected products, placed appropriately, in appropriate amounts, by a knowledgeable injector. Factors such as anatomy, product choice, injection technique, treatment frequency, and total volume all play a role.
Rather than chasing trends or repeatedly adding product, I believe in treating conservatively and reassessing over time.
What I Believe
Filler is a tool. It's not good or bad on its own. Like any tool, the outcome depends on how thoughtfully it's used.
Sometimes filler is the right answer. Sometimes another treatment makes more sense. Sometimes the best recommendation is to do nothing at all.
That's why every consultation at Tay the PA Aesthetics begins with education, not treatment. My job is to help you understand your anatomy, answer your questions honestly, and recommend only what I believe will help you achieve natural, balanced results.
Because the best filler doesn't change your face.
It simply helps you recognize yourself again.
If any of these fears sound familiar, begin with a consultation and we can talk through them together.
